The Different Types Of Thermax Insulation

The Dow Chemical Company is a great company producing many different products from cleaning products, medical supplies, fibers for clothing and much more.  One of their many products includes their line of Thermax Insulation.  They make innovative insulation made out of Polyisocyanurate.  This insulation is a foam board insulation specifically made for the exterior of a building.  This exterior insulation provides a water resistant barrier removing the additional step of installing a building wrap or membrane.

Thermax Insulation comes in seven different varieties including their base Thermax, Heavy Duty, Heavy Duty Plus, Light Duty, Metal Building Board, Sheathing and White Finish.  Thermax Heavy Duty is designed to be used in moderate impact areas and is designed as an interior finish system for walls and ceilings in metal, concrete and masonry buildings.  It can be power washed with up to a 2000 psi and can be installed exposed to the interior without a thermal barrier.  Thermax Heavy Duty Plus has all of the same features of Thermax Heavy Duty however is only for use in walls, not ceilings.  Light Duty rated only for light impact areas and can be pressure washed up to 1000 psi.  Thermax Metal Building Board is an insulation and an interior finish system for walls specifically in metal buildings.  The Thermax Sheathing provides stability and fire resistance and has the highest available R value and high strength for use on ceilings and walls.  The White Finish is equal to the Light Duty with a white finish making it more aesthetically appealing when exposed.  It is recommended to seal all joints of Thermax insulation with tapes or joint closures by Dow.
